Skills, not just marks!
The project of setting up a new primary school was initiated 18/6/2001 during a meeting of four teachers and friends with a common vision of setting up a modern approach primary school that will enable students not only to pass exams, but also to be successful after school in the job market and in daily life.
It was concluded that this vision can only be achieved through emphasis on learning by doing and practical experience as a complementary to classical classroom teaching.
By 6/8/2001 a business plan was developped. The name "New Generation Academy" was chosen and the slogan "skills, not just marks!" was coined. The project team elected Mr. Peter O. Magwar as their chairperson and Mr. Erik O. Mbare as headteacher.
A suitable plot of land was identified and the the buying of a plot of land was agreed upon.
The New Generation Academy was planned to open in 2002 with nursery and class 1-3.
However because of bureaucratic hurdles, the transaction of the land could so far (6/4/2002) not be accomplished.
The new academy is to be dedicated to make excellent education affordable.
